A Trip to the Home of Malaysia's Second Prime Minister

I was assigned to research more of Malaysia's New Heritage Park in 2015. Of the few historical locations and attractions found, I was drawn to the house of the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Tun Abdul Razak Memorial.

The Tun Abdul Razak Memorial was launched by Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 6 May 1982. The building was initially the Sri Taman Building which used to be the official residence for Tun Abdul Razak back in 1962, until his death in January 1976. The building then turned into Tun Abdul Razak Memorial in order to remember all his good deeds and contributions to the country.

The building exhibits the materials belonged to Tun Abdul Razak as well as the materials regarding him who was better known as Father of Development" (Bapa Pembangunan) and as the Second Prime Minister of Malaysia (1970 – 1976).

Walking close to the walls and being able to see and picture what was the lifestyle of the second Prime Minister is interesting. The admission is free of cost, however, only photos from outside are allowed to be taken, as taking photos within the building is strictly not advised.

The opening hours are from Tuesday - Sunday (10am - 5.30pm), and is temporary closed on Friday from 12pm-3pm.

For my next post, it will be about the reverted 'Tugu Negara', or National Monument...
